Organised annually, the Hungarian LSE Alumni Association’s so-called pre-departure party is an opportunity for offer holder students to meet former members of the institution. In his welcoming speech Ambassador Knott congratulated future students on having been accepted to such a prestigious school and highlighted that 4 out of the top 10 universities in the world are in the United Kingdom. In her opening remarks Founding President of the Hungarian Alumni Association Éva Számely, amongst others, talked about the brief history of the Association as well as its future plans.
Ms Számely pointed out that the school was founded for the “betterment of society” according to the Founding Fathers.
Thus for those who have ever been related to LSE it is not only a great opportunity having been given to advance themselves to the best, but is also a great mission to live up to throughout one’s life.
The British Embassy in Budapest, in close cooperation with the British Council, is an active promoter of British knowledge and education. In March 2013 the embassy and the Council jointly promoted education opportunities in the UK at the Budapest Technical University’s International Fair. In the summer of 2013 Ambassador Knott was personally involved in launching the V4 and FCO sponsored “Chevening Alumni for Innovation and Competitiveness in the V4 Countries” initiative.
