Two metro carriages were named in Budapest on Monday after two surviving legendary soccer players who played in Hungary’s Golden Team in 1953. Plaques on the front and back of the carriages bearing the names of Jenő Buzánszky and Gyula Grosics were unveiled by Budapest mayor István Tarlós and Alstom CEE deputy CEO Alf Henryk Wulf.
Buzánszky said that in times of peace, culture and sport can be areas where a small country might win the respect of the world. The famous match between England and Hungary, played in Wembley Stadium, was won by the guest team by 3:6 sixty years ago.
