New Bill To Give Doctors Full Access To Health Database In Hungary
Doctors will get full access to a patient’s entire health records in line with amended legislation submitted to parliament, daily Népszabadság said. Unless a patient sends a written statement to the health insurance authority to bar access to his or her records, doctors will be able to search freely in their personal database, the paper said.

Data protection expert Zoltán Alexin told Népszabadság that if, for instance, someone files a lawsuit against the authority for health deterioration resulting from medical malpractice, then the authority’s expert can search the patient’s entire health records and claim that the deterioration resulted from an existing condition or an earlier medical intervention and not from the one that is the subject of the lawsuit.
