Will Smith to Perform in Budapest Park this Summer
Grammy- Award winning artist, actor and multifaceted entertainer, Will Smith has recently announced his upcoming “Based on a True Story” Summer Tour, which has now been expanded with a Budapest show.

The tour announcement comes on the heels of Will Smith’s first full-length album in 20 years.

These live shows will see him performing songs from the new album, Based on a True Story along with his classic hits including Gettin’ Jiggy Wit It, Miami, and Summertime.

On August 14th, his first solo tour will also visit Budapest, organized by Budapest Park.

About the artist:

Will Smith (born September 25, 1968, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) is a celebrated American actor and musician. Known for his magnetic personality and sharp sense of humor, he made a seamless transition from the music industry to the big screen. Smith rose to stardom with major box-office hits like Bad Boys (1995), Independence Day (1996), and Men in Black (1997). His portrayal of Richard Williams in King Richard (2021) earned him the Academy Award for Best Actor.

DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince

Smith earned the nickname “Prince Charming” during his school years, which evolved into “Fresh Prince” as he entered the music scene with a hip-hop edge. He teamed up with local DJ Jeffrey Townes in 1981, and together they formed the duo DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince.

Their debut single, Girls Ain’t Nothing but Trouble (1986), and the album Rock the House marked their entry into music. They gained widespread acclaim with the 1988 track Parents Just Don’t Understand, which won the first-ever Grammy Award for Best Rap Performance.

Their music stood out for its light-hearted, family-friendly lyrics, which made them accessible to a wide audience. This widespread popularity eventually led to television.

The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air

In 1990, Smith starred in the NBC sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, loosely inspired by his own life. The show ran for six seasons and became a cultural touchstone. During its run, Smith was nominated twice for a Golden Globe and also took on a producer role in the final season.

Career Evolution

Though Smith continued to release music—including albums like Born to Reign (2002) and Lost and Found (2005) - his later efforts didn’t achieve the same commercial success.

However, he expanded his influence behind the scenes, producing several films and co-creating the sitcom All of Us (2003–07) with his wife. In 2018, he hosted the science documentary series One Strange Rock. His candid memoir, Will (co-written with Mark Manson), was published in 2021.
