Hungary’s National Tourism Concept Ready For Govt Assessment
The government is ready to assess a draft of the new National Tourism Development Concept prepared for the next ten years, Economy Minister Mihály Varga said. He told a gathering that since 2010 the government has paid focused attention to sectors which generated jobs and added value, and tourism is among them.

He said 2012 had been a record year for guest nights in Hungary and the trend is expected to continue this year. In the first eleven months of 2013 a total of 7.7 million guests spent 20 million guest nights in Hungary, up 5% on the same period in 2012 and up 10% in terms of revenue.

Thanks to the introduction of travel vouchers popular with employers, more than 106 billion forints (EUR 353.3mn) have been channelled to tourist operators and catering services, Varga added.
