The Gábor Aurél scholarship - limited to 15 persons and offering a monthly net allowance of 200 thousand forints - will be published as a new feature beside the Markusovszky, the Than Károly and the Méhes Károly scholarships, Miklós Szócska explained at a press conference held in the Heim Pál Children’s Hospital.

Applicants of the emergency medicine specialist scholarship shall undertake that during the disbursement period, they will provide emergency care in an area defined by the National Ambulance Service without accepting informal payments.

This last requirement also applies for all the other, now reopened scholarships, said the Minister of State.

According to Miklós Szócska’s explanation, they will once again publish the Markusovszky scholarship for specialist candidates. They are expecting 550 applicants who will receive a monthly net allowance of 100 thousand forints above their residency wages. Another requirement is that the specialist candidate doesn’t accept informal payments and is obliged to enter employment in state financed healthcare for a set period.

Pharmacy specialist candidates can apply for the Than Károly scholarship, which will be limited to 20 persons and the same requirement of entering employment in state financed healthcare and not accepting resident parasolvency applies. This scholarship offers a monthly net allowance of 100 thousand forints.

The Méhes Károly scholarship is published for residents who chose the infant and pediatric specialization, with a limit of 15 persons and an allowance of a monthly net 200 thousand forints. The candidates must undertake to fill in open family pediatrician positions and accept that they may be redirected to other general practitioner districts.

A total of 756 million forints are available for the announced scholarships and they are already open for application at the Office of Health Authorisation and Administrative Procedures. The application submission deadline is 3 January 2014.

Miklós Szócska stated that as a result of the previously published and currently ongoing scholarships, there is an obvious drop in the number of specialist candidates who would like to migrate abroad.

So far, there have been 1107 applications for the various scholarships; 1075 medical specialists and 32 pharmacy specialists, added the Minister of State.
Anikó Nagy, Medical Director of the Heim Pál Children’s Hospital told reporters that there are 16 scholarship holders working in the institute and the hospital – in collaboration with the university – continuously trains specialists.
