Speaker Expects “More Reasonable” Work In Hungarian Parliament After 2014 Elections
The work of Hungary’s new, smaller parliament to be formed after the general election in 2014 under new house rules is hoped to be “more reasonable and predictable” with “less time wasted on unnecessary disputes,” László Kövér, the speaker of parliament, told MTI.

Kövér said that statements and unseemly political behaviour in the past three-and-a-half years had been “the lowest points” of the chamber in the past 25 years of parliamentary life.

New house rules for the next parliament, in which the number of lawmakers will be 199 instead of the current 386, will change the “general public mood”, he said, adding that the assembly should meet every third week instead of weekly as is currently the case. The ruling parties plan to pass new house rules next February.
