Becketts Bar Budapest Made To Shut Down
This popular Irish Bar in downtown Budapest, which many say is a cultural institution, will be forced to close its doors on Monday, 3 February, after serving expats and locals alike for twenty years.

According to Becketts management, the rental agreement for the 5th district property has been denounced by the local authority effective from 2011.

Since then there has been an ongoing litigation and negotiation between the parties, but Becketts has lost the battle and has to move out from the building by Monday, 3rd February.

The Irish pub is looking for a new location to open again, and recently posted this statement on Fabebook:

"It is with great regret that we have to announce that the great cultural institution of the city known as Becketts Irish bar is been forced to close its doors come monday .

We would like to thank all our customers over the last 20 years for there wonderful support and would love to invite you all one last time over the next few days to come and enjoy a great pint and say your farewells to Becketts and her wonderful staff who have been amazing from the day we open all those years ago .

Out of a fire shall rise a phoenix and hopefully we will be able to serve the great city of Budapest once more." Becketts Irish Bar.
