Invitation: Walk Up A Hill In Budapest, 23 February
Due to the popularity of the last Pilis hike and the sheer enjoyment of crossing streams, sloshing along muddy paths, and clumping up steep embankments, we’ve decided to go back, this time taking a different route (yet to be decided). We will possibly end up at the same restaurant Kis Rigo, in any case it's a 10 am start on Sunday from Batthany tér HEV downstairs at the ticket office.

Train leaves at 10:18 am according to the BKV website. The route will be approx. 10 km or 14 km depending on weather conditions and taking around two to three hours.

From Pomaz HEV station we will hike through the Pilis ancient forest, crossing springs and streams on marked tracks to the village of Pilisszentlaszlo. It’s a challenging walk but beautiful with fantastic views.

Please confirm if you want to eat as we need to know numbers to book in advance. Restaurants are popular with hikers and mountain bikers in Pilis area

You'll need good walking boots, especially if it's been raining. Also a jacket (hat /gloves), a change of dry clothes, a flask of tea or coffee, and snacks.

You can buy the ticket from Bekasmegyer onwards onboard the train but you MUST have a valid ticket or pass for the journey inside the Budapest boundary.

Journey time to Pomaz from Batthany tér is 32 minutes by HEV. The cost of transport Budapest to Pomaz, Piliszentlaszlo to Szentendre, and Szentendre to Budapest is minimal, less than 1200 HUF per person.

Lunch of a soup and/or a main course and a drink is around 2000-3000 HUF

After lunch we can walk to the local Volan bus service in the village centre, less than 1 km from the restaurant, returning to Szentendre Bus / HEV station and back to Budapest by HEV.
