- 27 May 2026 5:43 PM
Sales, net of excise tax and a DRS deposit fee for bottles, edged up 2pc to HUF 24.4bn. Sales of premium products climbed 7pc, boosted by the rollout of Unicum Orange Bitter, a new flavour in the company's flagship portfolio.
Material costs fell 2pc to HUF 8.6bn, supported by the firmer forint. Gross margin rose by 1.2pp to 64.6pc as the ratio of higher-margin products increased.
In a separate announcement, Zwack said its board would propose a HUF 1,550-per-share dividend on earnings for the business year at an annual general meeting scheduled for July 2.
Fun Facts About Unicum Orange
The Inspiration:
The concept was inspired by a decades-old tradition from the period when the Zwack family had to produce Unicum in Italy. They discovered a highly popular local custom of serving the classic herbal liqueur over ice with a fresh slice of orange.
The Craft & Ingredients:
The spirit builds on the traditional secret recipe of over 40 herbs and spices. It is enriched with a meticulous blend of natural orange extract and orange distillate - specifically featuring the rinds of Sanguinello blood oranges grown around Mount Etna - before being aged in oak casks to create an elegant bittersweet balance.
Flavor Profile:
The liqueur carries a lower alcohol content of 34.5% ABV (compared to the original's 40%). It pairs a fresh, sweet-and-sour citrus aroma with the familiar complex, bitter herbal base of traditional Unicum, resulting in a smooth, long-lasting finish.
How to Serve:
It is best savored in an aperitivo or digestif style - served over ice cubes and garnished with a fresh slice of orange, or mixed as a long drink with tonic or soda.
