Police are investigating the disappearance of highly valuable jewels from the Pécs Cathedral in recent days. Local newspaper Új Dunántúli Napló reported that three brooches inlaid with precious stones are missing, along with five bishops’ rings, a double chain and a memorial medal, worth tens of millions of forints.
The theft is mysterious, as the alarm was functioning but it did not emit a signal. Archivist Zoltán Damásdi described the missing objects as priceless.
