Updated: Extreme Cold Weather Alert In Hungary
Snow began falling before dawn on Wednesday in Budapest. Forecasters predicted up to 3-4cm of snow in the capital and elsewhere in the country, except the south-east corner. The freshly fallen snow is creating dangerous driving conditions as the clean-up operation is relatively slow. Drivers are advised to use caution on the roads. According to meteorologists, rain will replace snow on Thursday and will stop by Friday.

Previously on 27 January:

The National Meteorological Service has issued an extreme cold weather alert in Budapest and in eight Hungarian counties. Lowest temperatures can range between -8 and -13°C, but at cloud-free snow-covered areas temperature can drop below -15°C.
