Invitation: Mangalica Festival, Budapest, 7 - 9 February
Entry is free, so if you fancy a taste of a pig that came close to extinction just a few decades ago, pop along for a bite of magnificent mangalica meat - said to be tastier and healthier than regular pork. As you may know, this festival is named after a delicious furry pig that's indigenous to Hungary, this year the event is held again at Szabadság tér in downtown Budapest, between 7 - 9 February.

This annual mangalica feast features Hungarian folk music and dance performances, along with plenty of this Hungarian heritage breed, both alive and processed - mainly in the form of sausages and salami, but roast mangalica is always available, plus there is also a cooking contest.

Venue: Szabadság tér (5th district), Budapest
