Roma Exclusion, Anti - Semitism Human Rights Problems In Hungary
The US State Department has published its human rights country reports. It identified social discrimination, Roma exclusion and anti-Semitism as major human rights problems in Hungary.

“Discrimination continued to significantly limit Roma access to education, employment, health care and social services,” it stated.

Furthermore, the government continued to use its two-thirds parliamentary majority to implement constitutional reform, and human rights NGOs said “political liberties and their guarantees have been subject to systematic curtailment in the past three years”.

The fifth constitutional amendment partially responded to international criticism, but concerns remained that provisions contained in the new legislation could “undermine equal treatment of religious groups and media pluralism.”

The report also notes that “the government generally took steps to prosecute and punish officials who committed abuses, whether in the security services or elsewhere in the government.”
