'Easter In Skanzen', Szentendre, Hungary, 19 - 21  April
"The season’s opening event will celebrate rebirth, the purifying human and awakening nature. Because of the festival, believers can take part in a church service. Tradition keeping groups will present the customs of the Easter holiday cycle.

As 24 April is the celebration of Saint George, the Skanzen of Szentendre includes traditional events connected to the saint shepherd in its Easter celebrations this year like magic involving curse eliminating and luck bringing spells.

According to folklore traditions this was particular day was the one when animals were let to the fields after the winter.

Folk artists from different regions of the country will show the rich traditions of egg decoration (batik, scratching, horseshoeing, leaf application method) to the guests, who can learn these techniques themselves as well.

In the Easter garden you can play egg catching, egg bowling and egg hitting.

 In the Game Court guests can try folk games of skill and sports that will slowly be forgotten.

The celebrations include:

Entrance building - Sprinkling on Easter Monday from 9.00 am – 12.00 pm

Alföldi mezőváros area - Egg throwing, egg rolling, sheep tales, sheep-soup cooking, merry-go-around and informing performances about the life of shepherds.

Kisalföld area - Candle making, ceramic sheep making, gingerbread making, puppet performances, paper flower making, kite making and Easter egg painting.

Nyugat-Dunántúl area - Egg searching and jumping in bales, Seasonal exhibitions
