A Budapest-bound Lufthansa flight returned to Munich shortly after take-off on Tuesday after a passenger attacked an air hostess with a razor blade.
The pilot returned the aircraft to Franz Josef Strauss airport in Munich, where a man from Kosovo was detained on board after all other passengers had left the aircraft.
The assailant wanted to avoid being returned to Hungary, where he has requested refugee status.
He spent the last four weeks in a jail in Passau after arriving in Germany.
He was deported to Hungary on Tuesday without a police escort.
