Fidesz’s 2/3 Majority Officially Affirmed In Hungary
The National Election Office announced early Sunday morning that with 99.99% of the April 6th parliamentary election vote counted, Fi-desz has indeed retained its two-thirds major-ity. This official preliminary result was arrived at after votes were processed on Saturday.

Fidesz will have 133 seats in the new par-liament, followed by the left-wing alliance at 38, Jobbik at 23 and the LMP at 5.

A total of 2,264,730 voters cast their bal-lots for Fidesz, while the left-wing alliance won 1,290,804, Jobbik 1,020,476, and the LMP 269,413. The remaining 14 parties that fielded a national list did not reach the mini-mum 5% threshold required to seat MP’s.

No candidate won the minimum 22,058 votes required to win a seat reserved for eth-nic minorities. However, each of the 13 minor-ity groups that fielded a national list can dele-gate a spokesman to Parliament.
