Socialists To Resubmit Proposal On VAT Cut On Food
- 15 May 2014 9:00 AM
The Socialist opposition plans to resubmit a proposal to parliament on cutting VAT on basic foods. Gábor Harangozó, deputy chairman of parliament’s committee for agriculture, and Zoltán Gőgös, the party’s agriculture spokesman, said that Russian sanctions have seriously damaged Hungarian meat exports and if Russian exports are not expected to pick up in the shortterm, domestic demand must be lifted.
To achieve this, the black economy, estimated to be worth some 100 billion forints, must be reined back, they added.
