Energy Security Forum Held In Budapest
The Central and South East European Forum on Energy Security was held in Budapest at the Foreign Ministry on June 17-18, 2014, the ministry said on Wednesday.

Representatives from Central and South Eastern Europe as well as from the United States, Ukraine, the European Commission and the European External Action Service discussed the current issues of European energy security and reflected on future challenges, the ministry said.

The participants analysed the current state of trilateral gas talks as well as considered future steps to enhance energy security for Central and South Eastern Europe. They discussed the need for further development of regional infrastructure, the proposal of the European Commission on European Energy Security Strategy and the importance of cooperation with EU neighbours, the ministry added.

The explosion along the Ukrainian gas transit system on June 17 underlined the energy security challenges for Ukraine and the Central and South East European region and the actuality of the Forum, the ministry noted.
