Free Facebook Access For Telenor’s Mobile Internet Customers All Summer
- 30 Jun 2014 9:00 AM
“For our customers summer is the period of recreation and travel. While they are on the go, they should have the freedom to remain well-informed, keep in touch with their loved ones as well as share their experiences and most important news items with their friends. We would like to increase their freedom in doing so and are now offering free data usage on Facebook to our mobile internet customers”, said Mike Michel, Chief Marketing Officer of Telenor Hungary.
Free domestic Facebook access is available to any Telenor subscriber with a data plan or voice and data bundle in the period between 13 June and 31 August. Users can also visit Telenor’s official Facebook page where questions are answered by a dedicated customer service team from Monday to Sunday between 8:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m. In this period, 85% of the inquiries are resolved in 15 minutes. Checking the Speed-O-Meter app available on the page visitors can see the expected response time to their inquiry based on Telenor’s Facebook customer service workload in the past 60 minutes.
Mobile internet usage and Facebook reliance are becoming more significant trends in Hungary:
• At Telenor Hungary, currently more than 80% of new handsets sold are smartphones and the demand for tablets has also been on the rise. In light of this, it is not surprising that one out of three Telenor subscribers are smartphone users and more than 1 million of them have a mobile internet plan.
• Facebook has been increasingly popular in Hungary where 4 million out of the country’s 4.8 million Facebook users access the social media site from mobile devices.[1] Facebook is very popular globally, too. Nearly half (48%) of its 1.31 bn users visit the site daily and spend 18 minutes on Facebook on average. Today, Facebook is not only a website but also a way of life with about half (48%) of users aged 18 to 34 checking the social media site first thing in the morning every day.[2]
