The majority of respondents in a recent survey said they supported the government’s plans to upgrade Hungary’s sole nuclear plant with two new reactors, according to a survey conducted by TNS Hoffmann for state energy provider MVM.
Fully 74% of all respondents backed nuclear energy in Hungary and 58% “positively supports” the Paks plant’s upgrade.
Participants mentioned keeping energy prices at an affordable level and reducing the country’s energy dependency as major benefits of the planned upgrade. Most respondents said they would not support any initiative to privatise the Paks plant.
