Fehér Isten follows the story of a young girl’s friendship and her search for her dog living in a dystopian society, where a special tax is levied on dogs. After her dog becomes the leader of a stray dog gang that invades Budapest, the apocalyptical situation begins.

Kornél Mundruczó’s work was in competition with Ryan Gosling’s directorial debut Lost Rover, Cannes regular Wim Wenders’ latest film The Salt of the Earth, and 18 other films.

Along with Kornél Mundruczó, Vilmos Zsigmond, the legendary Hungarian-American cinematographer was also awarded in Cannes. He took the Pierre Angenieux Lifetime Achievement Award. Throughout his successful Academy-Award-winning career, Zsigmond shot a number of memorable movies – including The Deer Hunter, The Long Goodbye, Deliverance, and Close Encounters of the Third Kind , for which he also received and Oscar.
