Hungary has submitted Kornel Mundruczó’s feature-length film White God for next year’s Academy Award in the best foreign language film category, the Hungarian National Film Fund said. The film was selected by a ninemember committee that included Andrew G. Vajna, the one-time Hollywood producer who is government commissioner for the country’s film industry, and industry professionals, said the Fund.
Mundruczó’s sixth film won the main award in the Cannes international film festival’s Un Certain Regard section this spring.
White God tells the story of 13-yearold Lili and her dog. It has earned success at international film festivals particularly for the scenes made with the inclusion of 200 well-trained dogs.
