Budapest Casinos To Open Later This Year

Las Vegas Casino, which earlier won a concession to operate five casinos in and around the capital, has been granted a request to push back the effective date of the licence from September 1, 2014 to January 1 of next year, the Economy Ministry said on Tuesday.
The ministry said it had granted the request, after consulting with the Development Ministry, to give Las Vegas Casino enough time to train staff. The local work force lacks the necessary experience in nonelectronic gambling, it explained.
The casinos will employ at least 450 trained Hungarians when they open in January. Las Vegas Casino was awarded the concession for the five casinos in May.
Aranybónusz 2000 won concessions for casinos, in Debrecen and Nyíregyháza, both in the east of the country, at the same time. The gambling act allows the issue of eleven licences: five in Budapest and Pest County, three in eastern Hungary and three in the west of the country.
