Budapest Well Prepared For Winter Care Of Homeless
Budapest is better prepared than ever to care for its homeless in the upcoming winter months, with 1,500 extra places available during the crisis period compared with last year, the state secretary for social affairs and cohesion said.

Károly Czibere told a press conference that never before had decisions on homeless shelters been made as early as mid-September.

Support to organisations offering homeless care services will be transferred within two or three weeks.

Fully 372 million forints will be distributed to successful bidders caring for the homeless, he added.

Nationwide 11,000 places are available for the homeless and the government is spending a total of 9.2 billion (EUR 29.6m) forints on helping them this year, he said.
