- 8 Oct 2014 9:00 AM
Szeged’s Socialist mayor László Botka, who has run the city for 12 years can be defeated at the local elections, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán declared as he campaigned briefly in the south Hungarian city on Tuesday. Orbán made a ‘secret’ unannounced visit to Szeged, HVG reports, where he went up to the ninth-floor flat of Fidesz mayoral candidate János Kothenz to have a cup of coffee, then spoke with passers-by in the building.
When some complained that renovation costs had increased their common expenses, Orbán replied “we reduced the utility fees, but you were not able to feel it” and said mayor Botka was to blame.
