Hungarian Govt Plan To Scrap Jobless Benefits “Inhumane, Unfair”
The government’s plan to scrap unemployment benefits in 2018 while placing the jobless into fostered job schemes is both inhumane and unfair, the opposition Democratic Coalition (DK) said.

The party’s spokesman, Zsolt Gréczy, told MTI after a news conference that “the Orban regime would push yet more hundreds of thousands of people into the abyss”.

He cited an institute of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences study, saying that it was untrue that fostered job schemes aided labour-market integration, and said that according to the survey last year and the year before only 13 percent of people on the scheme had got onto the labour market proper.

The government job schemes are merely cosmetically disguising the real jobless rate, which would be over 11 percent without them, he insisted.
