In an amendment to the tax law and the law on gambling, the state-owned lottery company Szerencsejáték has exclusive rights to run online sports betting in Hungary, the paper said, adding that rival websites should therefore be blocked permanently.

But ever since midsummer, the NAV has had little success in blocking illegal sites operated from abroad.

So far they have brought bans against 69 sites and have made 26 unobtainable, but the majority continue to operate as normal.
