Protesters In Budapest Demand A New Regime
Demonstrators demanded a new change of regime and a new Hungarian republic as a crowd of over 6,000 joined an anti-government rally organised by civil society groups on Tuesday evening.

It was announced as the crowd gathered on József nádor tér that the main goal of the demonstration is to rally the various groups which have recently protested against government policy.

The demonstrators then marched to Kossuth tér, chanting slogans against corruption and Fidesz.

However, instead of gathering on Alkotmány utca as arranged, many moved towards the Parliament and clashed with police.

As demonstrators tried to break through police lines towards the entrance, police responded with tear gas. At least one man was injured with blood flowing from a head wound.

Demonstrators also threw eggs and beer cans at Parliament.

On the stage Emma Krasznahorkai, speaking on behalf of the group We Won’t Keep Quiet, said people have had enough of “the half-wit government and the helpless opposition”.

The last speaker recommended to the opposition not to continue to assist the “bogus democracy” but to walk out of Parliament.
