Ukraine Crisis Hits Tourism In Hungary
Since the outbreak of the Russian- Ukrainian conflict earlier this year, fewer Russian tourists have visited Hungary, business daily Napi Gazdaság said.

The declining exchange rate of the rouble has also discouraged Russian tourists, István Kovács, head of the Hungarian Hotel and Restaurant Association, told the paper.

In late October, 10% fewer Russians arrived in Hungary than a year before.

This is all the more a major blow as Russians used to outnumber Austrian and British tourists here in the previous years, he said.

In 2013, Russians accounted for 5-6% of the 1,263 billion forints (EUR 4bn) spent by foreign tourists in Hungary.

They spent 768,000 guest nights in Hungary, almost exclusively in hotels, Kovács said.
