Opel Sales In Hungary Up 50% In 2014
Opel Magyarország increased its sales by more than 50% in Hungary in 2014 from a year earlier. As the German carmaker’s Hungarian unit in Szentgotthárd is expected to substantially increase its output on higher demand for Flex engines, headcount could grow by 500 this year from 1,400, managers of Opel said.

Opel brand dealers sold 10,195 vehicles in Hungary in 2014, up 51.5% from a year earlier while the market expanded by 23.4%. Opel has been market leader for passenger cars for the fourth consecutive year.

Last year, Opel controlled 13.41% of the market with sales of 9,051 passenger cars.

Managing director Gábor Koncz said Opel Magyarország projects growth exceeding the market average in 2015 as the market is expected to grow by around 15%.

In addition, the company wants to retain its position as market leader for passenger cars.
