The US Department of State has handed over its agrément to the Hungarian embassy, under which Réka Szemerkényi, Hungary’s new ambassador to the US, can take up her post in Washington, the foreign ministry announced.
The document was requested by Hungary on November 21, 2014 and received on Wednesday, the ministry said, noting there had been no delay in the procedure.
Szemerkényi will replace György Szapáry in Washington. Colleen Bradley Bell, the new US ambassador to Hungary, presented her credentials to President János Áder on Wednesday.
