Budapest To Receive Up To Euro 1.6bn In EU Funding Until 2022
Budapest may receive 400-500 billion forints (EUR 1.3-1.6bn) in direct EU funding over the next seven years, Mayor István Tarlós said. Budapest was not going to receive “too much” EU funding, but the situation has “greatly changed”, Tarlós told commercial broadcaster RTL II.

He said he had received “very good news from the most direct source,” but declined to reveal further details before “the facts are sealed in a document”.

Speaking about the city’s current affairs, Tarlós said the three most important issues to be tackled included transportation, homelessness and Danube-related flood defence.

Commenting on the issue of the upgrade of metro line 3, Tarlós said that “it seems that now we are going to receive help from the government”.
