LMP: Hungarian Govt Should Take Emigration Issue Seriously
The government should take the outflow of the Hungarian workforce seriously, Bernadett Szél, co-leader of green LMP, told a press conference. Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has a “justified fear” of emigrants since they “hold a mirror to the government’s failed economic policy, which is based on meagre wages”, she said.

The prime minister is trying to downplay the emigration problem, claiming that people are leaving the country “to seek adventure”, whereas many highly skilled experts going abroad are leaving a hopeless financial and labour situation behind them, Szél insisted.

Orbán should face the problem, consult people and change his policy, she added. Szél argued that the tendency of emigration would continue unless employment in Hungary can ensure a decent wage. Referring to a survey conducted by her party, she said that respondents were disappointed by the government’s failure to keep people in the country.
