Tom Hanks Visit’s Budapest’s House Of Terror Museum

Two-times Oscar-winning Hollywood superstar Tom Hanks has visited Budapest’s House of Terror Museum while in the Hungarian capital to shoot his new mystic thriller “Inferno”, adapted from Dan Brown’s bestselling novel. The actor is reported to be an avid fan of history, his father having served in the US Navy during the Second World War and himself playing in several history-themed films during his career, the best-known of which is “Saving Private Ryan”.
In “Bridge of Spies”, which will premiere in October and is also directed by Steven Spielberg, he plays an American lawyer who travels to East Berlin during the Cold War to negotiate the rescue of an imprisoned US spy.
“This is a most impressive record of history – to be seen by all. To be never forgotten”, the 59-year-old actor wrote in the museum’s guest book.
Opened in 2002. the House of Terror Museum is located at Andrássy út 60, a building that housed secret police during bost the wartime fascist Arrow Cross regime and the subsequent communist dictatorship. It contains exhibits related to the fascist and communist dictatorial regimes in 20th-century Hungary and is also a memorial to the victims of these regimes, including those detained, interrogated, tortured or killed in the building. The Director-General of the museum is prominent historian Dr. Mária Schmidt.
Tom Hanks is not the first American celebrity to visit the museum, which has previously also welcomed Jeremy Irons and Lucy Liu. “Inferno” will premiere in the US on 14 October 2016.
