- 13 Aug 2015 4:06 AM
For the first time in several years, Gellért Hill will once again take centre stage in the August 20 fireworks display, marking St. Stephen’s Day - Hungary’s main national holiday. Fireworks will also be launched from the Liberty Bridge and from military pontoons on the Danube, Éva Leskovics, the leading pyrotechnician, said. “The launch site on Gellért Hill is a great opportunity for us”, she said. “This way the fireworks will be visible from a much further away.” Golden hues will dominate, mostly in shapes of rings and willows.
A block will also be dedicated to the Hungarian national red-white-green tricolour.
The programme is planned and timed to match the incidental music, scheduling in some breaks to allow the smoke to clear.
