Hungarian Gov: Spreading Word On Asylum Law Crucial
Informing migrants on their way to Hungary about the country’s asylum law is a fundamental interest of Hungary and the European Union as a whole, government spokesman Zoltán Kovács said. Statistics show that most illegal border crossers are eventually classified as economic migrants and therefore are not eligible for refugee status, Kovács said.

He said the EU currently lacks a clear system for managing migration, meaning that anyone can enter the EU “as they please,” which Kovács said would have “unpredictable consequences”.

Government office chief János Lázár on Thursday said the government would finalise its decision to launch a campaign in transit countries to disrupt human smuggling attempts going through Hungary at next Tuesday’s cabinet meeting.
