Hungarian Prisoners Make Supporting Structures For Border Fence
Inmates of Pálhalma National Prison are preparing the supporting structures of the border fence, a local ruling party politician said. The various work phases were presented at the galvanizing plant of DAK Steel Structure Ltd. on the perimeters of Dunaújváros Steelworks.

Due to its obligations under the Schengen system, Hungary must control the Hungarian-Serbian border, where thousands of people are entering the country illegally every day, said Fidesz lawmaker Dénes Galambos, adding that the border fence is necessary.

Currently 44 detainees are working two shifts in the factory to make the fence’s supporting structures, Brigadier General Péter Balázs, the prison’s governor, noted.

Their number or the number of shifts may be raised, he added.
