Socialists Propose To Speed Up Birth Certificate Registration For Hungarians Abroad
The Socialists have proposed a law amendment enabling newborns to be registered for a Hungarian birth certificate at consulates abroad, which would speed up the procedure. The move is aimed at easing the administrative burden on Hungarians working abroad, the party said in a statement. Ágnes Kunhalmi and Ildikó Bangó Borbély, the bill’s proponents, said there were 8,000 children currently waiting to receive their birth certificates as procedures take as long as a year for parents who work outside Hungary.
