Over 1,000 Migrants Set Off In Hungary For Austria Border On Foot
A group of over 1,000 migrants set off on foot from Hegyeshalom in the direction of the Austrian border on Wednesday afternoon, public news channel M1 reported. This was the second group that attempted to cross into Austria on foot today. The migrants were reported to have arrived from Budapest by a charter train service to Hegyeshalom station, the Hungarian border point.

From here they started walking towards the border with police following behind, M1’s correspondent said. Austrian authorities are awaiting the migrants with buses on the other side of the border and those who want to travel on to Germany may do so by train.

Earlier in the day a group of some 150-200 immigrants walked into Austrian territory.

László Szőke, the local mayor, said the immigrants did not want to spend time waiting for the next train to Austria, which is why they walked the distance – some 30 minutes away.
