Xpat Opinion: Summit Rejects Hungarian PM’s Plan To Guard Greece’s Borders
- 25 Sep 2015 9:00 AM
In Népszabadság, András Dési believes that it was a mistake on the part of the Hungarian Prime Minister to side with his Bavarian counterpart in the latter’s feud with Federal Chancellor Angela Merkel.
Mr Seehoffer invited the Hungarian Prime Minister to Munich and the two of them jointly criticised what they called the short-sighted policy of European leaders facing a mounting wave of migrants towards Europe.
Dési believes that Mr Orbán’s criticism of what he called “moral imperialism” was too strong a hint at Mrs Merkel’s stance.
The left-wing columnist admits that the soft-spoken German Chancellor has no answers to many burning immigration issues, but warns that the Bavarian Prime Minister is a small player and Hungary had better avoid offending the big one.
