Hungarian Border Peaceful, Intl Police Chiefs To Consult In Vienna
Hungary’s borders with Slovenia, Croatia and Serbia are peaceful but the situation is continually monitored and police chiefs of the affected countries will meet in Vienna next week to consult about tasks to ensure border security, the prime minister’s chief domestic security advisor said. György Bakondi told public news channel M1 that only 22 border violators were rounded up on Monday and 36 on Tuesday, with no illegal entrants at the Croatian border.

This shows that the situation is almost back to normal, he added. He said the fact that the Visegrád Four countries are not only consulting with each other but actively cooperating in protecting the borders is a great achievement.

He added that Czech soldiers recently arrived in Hungary and Slovak police arrived on Tuesday to contribute to border protection.

A similar agreement is planned with Poland in the near future, he said.
