Restaurant Review: Ecke 22 Etterem, A Humble Hungarian Hero
Tucked away on a side street off Andrássy Avenue near Heroes' Square is one of the last bastions of real Hungarian taste, with real Hungarian portions, just like the old days. The restaurant is cosy with a cave-like interior, and relaxed outdoor terrace from where you can watch the world go by - when the weather permits. The service is warm and friendly, there's a wide range of dishes, and a fair selection of fine local wines.

The menu consists of traditional dishes, meats, soups, fish, and desserts. It has a nice homely feel, which matches the cooking. Personally I'm a sucker for the pork knuckle, followed by the somlói galuska or the chestnut purée.

It doesn’t matter whether it is winter or summer; you will always find a cosy, relaxed, and familiar atmosphere, which is what I felt from the very first time I went, and so I'm a regular there now.
