Hungary’s Foreign Minister Slams Austria Chancellor For “False” Remarks
Austria’s Federal Chancellor Werner Faymann “continues to make false statements” about Hungary, the Hungarian foreign minister said. Referring to an interview with Faymann published in the daily Österreich, Péter Szijjártó insisted that “just because it is repeated, a lie will not come true”. In the interview he gave last week, Faymann said that on September 4 Hungary had forwarded thousands of migrants to Austria, and suggested that Austria and Germany had no other choice but to accommodate those refugees to prevent a humanitarian disaster.

“Hungary did not send several thousand immigrants to Austria on September 4; it did not send a single person,” Szijjártó said.

Hungary provided shelter and services to migrants at its reception centres, but “a significant part of the migrants turned more and more aggressive, and they refused to cooperate with the authorities,” the minister said.

Then, “on Germany’s invitation” they set off westward, he added. The Austrian chancellor should review the situation “by the light of the truth”, Szijjártó suggested.
