Nézőpont Poll: Support For Jobbik Drops By Third From September
Support for the radical nationalist Jobbik party dropped by one third from September to November, which reflects the failure of Jobbik’s efforts to become a “people’s party”, a poll by the Nézőpont Institute said. The poll taken on Nov. 14- 19 showed that two-thirds of Hungarians were dissatisfied with the work of the leftist parties, Nézőpont said.

It is a bad sign for the opposition Socialists that 18% of all voters still consider Ferenc Gyurcsány, former prime minister and current head of the Democratic Coalition (DK), the leader of the left, and only 5% named Socialist leader József Tóbiás as the leading figure, Nezőpont added.

Jobbik enjoyed the support of 17% of all voters in September but this dropped to 12% in October and dropped further to 11% in November.

The ruling Fidesz-Christian Democrats received 34% support from all voters recorded in November, unchanged from September.

The Socialists received an unchanged 7% and the DK 5% of support.

Együtt’s popularity dropped from 2 to 1%, while the PM party received 1% and the green LMP 4%, unchanged from October.

A total of 35% said they would not vote or refused to reveal their party preference.

Among potential voters, Fidesz had 48% support, Jobbik 22%, the Socialists 9%, DK 7%, Együtt 2%, PM 1%, LMP 6%.
