Shots Fired In Hungarian Politicians’ Dispute
- 10 Nov 2015 10:00 AM
Szentendre police have launched proceedings on suspicion of hooliganism against 57-year-old local Socialist politician Ottó Rédei, who reportedly fired shots into the air in a quarrel with local Fidesz politician Zsolt Dombay on Sunday night. After the two began to scuffle on the street, Rédei produced a firearm or something similar from his car and fired into the air several times, alarming local residents.
Rédei wrote on Facebook that a Fidesz official had screamed obscene words at him and had brandished a knife and threatened to attack him along with two associates.
He said that for some time he has been living with Dombay’s former common-law partner and the two men have had many disagreements.
Dombay could not be reached for comment.
