Fidesz Widens Lead, Jobbik Support Dips In Hungary
Support for the governing Fidesz- Christian Democrat alliance increased in January while the radical nationalist Jobbik lost some of its voter base, according to a recent poll by Századvég.

In the whole sample, Fidesz- KDNP increased its lead over the opposition and stood at 33%. Support for Jobbik dipped, with 12% of respondents choosing the radical nationalist party.

The Socialist Party came in third with 8%, pipping the leftist Democratic Coalition which captured 7%.

Green LMP stood at 5% and Együtt at 1%. Support for other parties added up to 2%. Fully 32% of respondents said they were undecided.

Fidesz-KDNP also increased their popularity among decided voters, with 45% backing the governing alliance. Jobbik stood at 22%, with the Socialist coming in third with 14%.

The Democratic Coalition captured 10%, LMP 5% and Együtt 2%. Fully 2% of respondents said they would vote for other parties, such as the Liberal Party, Dialogue for Hungary or the Modern Hungary Movement, with all three parties registering less than 1% on their own.

The poll was taken between January 22 and 26 by phone with a sample of 1,000 adults.
