Govt Ready To Cover Budapest Agglomeration Transport Costs
The government is ready to cover the cost of public transport services in the Budapest agglomeration with retroactive effect to January 1, 2016, the development minister told the mayor of Budapest, according to a statement released by the ministry.

Miklós Seszták held talks with Mayor István Tarlós on Saturday.

Tarlós said on Friday that public transport services in the agglomeration are the legal duty of the state, and the ways and means of taking over the service are currently being discussed.

Tarlós said that he expected an agreement to be reached before the municipal assembly’s regular session in February.

Until negotiations are concluded and the takeover is completed, the municipality will see to public transport services in the agglomeration, Tarlós told Seszták.
