Hungarian Socialists Overtake Jobbik Among All Voters
The Socialist Party has made up ground and overtaken the radical nationalist Jobbik party in terms of overall support, albeit the party’s lead is within the margin of error in a new poll by the Nézőpont Institute. The ruling Fidesz-Christian-Democrat alliance has maintained its lead among Nézőpont’s entire sample, capturing 32%.

Support for the governing alliance continues to be higher than the combined support for opposition parties, the phone poll of 1,000 votingage adults conducted in mid-January found.

The Socialist Party slotted into second place with 11% while Jobbik remained at 10%. The leftist Democratic Coalition (DK) stood at 5% among the entire sample, while small opposition parties Együtt and Dialogue for Hungary (PM) captured 1% each.

Green LMP maintained its support of 3%. Among “potential voters”, Fidesz- KDNP had 44% support, Jobbik 23%, the Socialists 15%, DK 7%, LMP 5%, and Együtt 2% while PM had 1%.
