Transport Group Defends Déli Station
The Hungarian Transport Club (MKK) is asking the cabinet to abandon its plan to close the Déli train station in Buda. The costs of closing the station would be sufficient to improve the standard of service on a regional rail network, the group said.

The cabinet plans to shift rail traffic to Kelenföld station and create a green space at the Déli site.

Déli is one of the busiest railway stations in Hungary and closing it would considerably worsen the accessibility of Budapest transport hubs for commuters from Érd, Nagytétény and all affected railway lines, the MKK argues.

For example, it would take 10-12 minutes longer to reach Széll Kálmán tér, Batthyány tér or Kossuth tér, the MKK said.
